Apple 2025 MacBook Air – Happened In The Absolutely Lowest: Pros & Cons for USA Buyers
The Apple 2025 MacBook Air represents a pivotal moment in Apple’s laptop strategy. With the introduction of the M4 chip, a stunning new Sky Blue color, and a surprisingly aggressive $999 starting price, Apple has delivered what many are calling the best value MacBook in years . The phrase Happened In The Absolutely Lowest captures this moment perfectly—premium Apple performance has never been this accessible. Here is an honest, USA-focused breakdown for buyers considering this groundbreaking laptop.
Pros ✅ (Apple 2025 MacBook Air)
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Unbeatable Starting Price | The Apple 2025 MacBook Air starts at just $999 for the 13-inch model and $1,199 for the 15-inch model—$100 less than the previous generation. For the first time, you get 16GB RAM at this entry price. Apple has never offered this much value in an Air . |
| 16GB RAM is Now Standard | Gone are the days of 8GB base models. Every M4 MacBook Air comes with 16GB of unified memory standard, configurable up to 32GB. This is a game-changer for multitasking, running multiple apps, and future-proofing your investment . |
| Blazing Fast M4 Performance | The M4 chip features a 10-core CPU (4 performance + 6 efficiency cores) and up to a 10-core GPU. Built on second-generation 3nm technology (N3E), it delivers a 24% performance boost over M3. Geekbench 6 scores show 3,748 single-core and 14,664 multi-core—flagship desktop performance in a 2.7-pound laptop . |
| All-Day 18-Hour Battery Life | The M4 Air delivers up to 18 hours of video playback and 15 hours of wireless web browsing. In real-world testing, the 15-inch model lasted an impressive 15 hours and 39 minutes in looped video tests—enough for cross-country flights and full workdays away from outlets . |
| Stunning New Sky Blue Color | Apple introduced a gorgeous new Sky Blue finish for 2025, replacing Space Gray. The color is subtle and elegant—sometimes appearing silver, sometimes a soft blue depending on lighting. It also resists fingerprints better than the darker Midnight finish . |
| Dual External Display Support | For the first time on an Air, you can connect two external 6K displays at 60Hz while keeping the built-in screen active (unlike the M3 which required the lid closed). This is huge for productivity users, traders, and developers . |
| Upgraded 12MP Center Stage Camera | The new 1200-pixel Center Stage camera automatically keeps you centered during video calls. It also supports Desk View, which shows a top-down view of your workspace—perfect for product demos, tutorials, or collaborative brainstorming . |
| Excellent Build Quality | The unibody aluminum chassis is rock-solid with zero flex. The redesigned Magic Keyboard (post-butterfly-switch era) offers 1mm travel, is quiet, clicky, and evenly backlit. The haptic trackpad remains industry-leading, with Force Touch and multi-touch gestures that feel effortless . |
| Thunderbolt 4 Connectivity | Two Thunderbolt 4 ports (40Gb/s each) support charging, DisplayPort, and high-speed data transfer. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 provide fast, reliable wireless connectivity . |
| Apple Intelligence Ready | The M4’s 16-core Neural Engine is 3x faster than M1, enabling on-device AI features like Writing Tools (proofreading, summarization), enhanced Siri, and smart photo editing. Apple Intelligence is baked into macOS and keeps your data private . |
| Lightweight and Portable | The 13-inch model weighs just 2.7 pounds (1.24 kg) and is only 0.44 inches thick. It slips easily into any backpack or tote, making it the ultimate travel companion . |
| Liquid Retina Display Quality | The 13.6-inch (2560×1664) or 15.3-inch (2880×1864) Liquid Retina displays hit 500 nits brightness, cover 100% of DCI-P3 color gamut, and support 1 billion colors. Color accuracy is exceptional at 98.7% sRGB coverage . |
Cons ❌ (Apple 2025 MacBook Air)
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| 60Hz Refresh Rate Feels Outdated | In 2025, a 60Hz display on a $1,000+ laptop is hard to defend. Competitors offer 90Hz or 120Hz OLED panels. Scrolling through documents and web pages reveals noticeable blur, and the lack of ProMotion makes the Air feel less premium than its price suggests . |
| No OLED or Mini-LED Display | The MacBook Air still uses standard IPS LCD technology, not OLED or Mini-LED. Blacks aren’t as deep, contrast isn’t as punchy, and HDR performance lags behind Windows competitors like the Dell XPS or Samsung Galaxy Book series . |
| Limited Port Selection | Only two Thunderbolt ports (both on the left side), a MagSafe charging port, and a headphone jack. No SD card slot, no HDMI, no additional USB-A ports. Having both ports on the same side can be frustrating when plugging in larger accessories that block access to the second port . |
| Still 60Hz Only | Worth emphasizing again—the lack of a high refresh rate display is the single biggest drawback of the 2025 MacBook Air. For a laptop released in 2025, this feels like a deliberate product segmentation choice rather than a technical limitation . |
| Base Storage is Only 256GB | While RAM was upgraded to 16GB, the base storage remains just 256GB. After installing macOS and a few applications, you may have only 180-200GB free. Upgrade to 512GB adds $200—Apple’s storage upgrade pricing remains steep . |
| No Wi-Fi 7 Support | The M4 Air supports Wi-Fi 6E but not Wi-Fi 7, which is already appearing on premium Windows laptops. This is a curious omission given that the M4 Pro MacBook Pro includes Wi-Fi 7 . |
| Fingerprint Magnet (Midnight Color) | If you choose the darker Midnight finish, be prepared for constant fingerprint smudges. The new Sky Blue and Silver finishes fare much better, but this remains an issue for fans of the dark aesthetic . |
| Not a Major Upgrade from M2/M3 | If you already own an M2 or M3 MacBook Air, the M4 model isn’t a compelling upgrade. The design is identical, the display unchanged, and the performance gains, while real, aren’t transformative enough to justify replacing a 1-2 year old machine . |
| Glossy Display Glare | The glossy screen looks beautiful indoors but becomes difficult to read in bright sunlight or near windows. There’s no nano-texture matte option available on the Air (reserved for Pro models) . |
| No Fan (Passive Cooling) | While the fanless design is part of the Air’s appeal (silent operation), it also means sustained heavy workloads (video encoding, large file exports) can cause thermal throttling. The MacBook Pro with active cooling is better for extended demanding tasks . |
Quick Verdict for USA Shoppers (Apple 2025 MacBook Air)
| Best For | Not Recommended For |
|---|---|
| Students, remote workers, frequent travelers, writers, business professionals, casual creators, and anyone wanting the best value MacBook ever made | Video editors (choose MacBook Pro), serious gamers (no dedicated GPU), users who need SD card slots or HDMI ports, or those upgrading from M2/M3 Air |
Bottom Line: The Apple 2025 MacBook Air – Happened In The Absolutely Lowest is arguably the best laptop value Apple has ever created. The combination of the M4 chip, 16GB standard RAM, $999 starting price, dual external display support, and 18-hour battery life makes this an incredibly easy recommendation for most USA buyers. The 60Hz display and limited ports are compromises, but at this price point, they’re forgivable. If you’re on an Intel Mac or M1 Air, upgrade immediately. If you have M2 or M3, wait another year .

Perfect travel laptop!
I bought this 13″ Macbook Air M4 with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage for my daily commute and to use on trips. It is so light, so fast, so thin, and so beautiful. The battery lasts easily a full day of web development work and watching videos. It runs games alright (I tested Dress to Impress on Roblox with some friends and it ran on very high with no stutter) but the real draw is that I can focus purely on productivity. No shifting a hot laptop around to keep it from burning me, no worries about charging it, no considering if it will be able to run something or handle a workload. It just keeps handling everything flawlessly. One of my favorite recent purchases. You’d never know it was renewed or that it’s the most barebones 2025 laptop offered by Apple. Incredible value!

Outstanding laptop
I bought this to replace a refurbished Macbook Air with the Intel 5 processor that I bought about a year ago to replace a beat-up HP laptop that was causing more problems than it is worth after a couple of years of use. The refurbished Mac works fine, but Apple does not support it, and I have had problems with some websites that I need to use. Its battery is 10 years old and doesn’t hold a charge for more than three or four hours, either. So, I checked for the newer Macbooks and found this 2025 Macbook Air with the M4 processor for less than $780, including tax, on Amazon. I pulled the trigger and am very glad I did. It’s incredibly fast, compact, runs the latest software and holds a charge for about 15 hours of normal use. An added bonus is that I can use the same external keyboard and mouse on both Macbook Air models that I now have, which saves wear and tear on the keyboard and laptop. My keys tend to lose their lettering after a year or two of use, starting with the E, A, and I letters, so I like using the external keyboard and mouse. The laptop is a fantastic deal for the price I paid and ranks among the best laptop deals available by many of the tech sites/publications I have found online.

A Fast, Fantastic Laptop Computer
The Apple macBook 13 is a superb computer and Amazon had a great price. The 2025 model has the most advanced OS of any macBook versions. Earlier versions are still available elsewhere, but they do not have the M4 system. The computer is trim and light making it much easier to carry than my previous laptop. Consumer Reports gave this laptop excellent ratings, including predicted reliability and owner satisfaction. If you have an iPhone or iPad, the laptop will sync with them seamlessly. There are cheaper computers, but I don’t think there are better computers on the market.

Very good
I recently purchased the Apple MacBook Air M4, and I am very pleased with both its price and quality. The laptop offers excellent performance thanks to the powerful M4 chip, which enhances graphics and overall speed, making everyday tasks and even some professional applications run smoothly. Despite being lightweight and slim, it does not compromise on power or build quality. The MacBook Air M4 is a refined version of an already excellent design, focusing on strategic improvements rather than a complete overhaul. This makes it a reliable and efficient choice for users who want a balance between portability and performance. Additionally, the price point is very reasonable considering the features and capabilities it offers, making it a great value for money.Overall, I highly recommend the MacBook Air M4 to anyone looking for a high-quality, powerful, and affordable laptop that can handle both work and leisure with ease.

Great Little Laptop
Really happy with the speed and quality for the price. I really hope Apple keeps making high quality, fast, reliable, and long battery life laptops cheap. It is quite small so do make sure it is the right size for your needs. I have a M4 Mac Book Pro too and other than video rendering I really don’t notice much difference in speed.

No regrets with this macbook
I had a 2014 Macbook Pro and although it still worked great was no longer getting updates. I also wanted to get a Mac that had the M processors but had decided that I wouldn’t go with a big screen like last time. I wanted something relatively light. I also wasn’t going to spend as much money as last time either. The Macbook Air M4 fit the bill perfectly. I’m using it now for this review. I bought it for $1,049 and I see it’s cheaper now but I still have no regrets.Pros:1) This thing is fast! I had built my latest PC with the best components and I’m still finding myself docking this and using it instead2) All of the creative software just seems to work better on this Mac.3) This is the perfect size for portability. I was a little concerned that the screen might be too small given my eyesight but it wasn’t a problem. Screen quality is good and I have no issues there.4) Battery life is very good. I’m usually not doing anything power-intensive when I’m just using it as a laptop but I can generally go about a day periodically using it and not have any issues.5) The keyboard is great – not too crowded and the backlighting is good.6) Finally, the base model has 16GB instead of 8GB. I don’t know why Apple insisted that 8GB was enough in 2025 – memory is pretty cheap and 16GB is pretty much the minimal you need now a days.Cons1) This is true for all modern macbooks, but you have to absolutely get what you need when you buy it. It’s not upgradeable. You can do some things like get a thuderbolt 4/5 ssd enclosure for storage but you have to nail down the amount of RAM you want. However, as I mentioned above the default RAM is 16 GB and that’s good enough for most people.2) The magsafe connector is great but it does seem to come off a little too easily. It’s a minor gripe at best.Overall just a great laptop – I’m very happy with it.

Phenomenal performance and battery life
I was not a believer in Apple ARM until I extensively used this Air to process big raw images in Photoshop, and other image processing apps, with the laptop connected via a USB C dock to a 4k monitor, keyboard, mouse and printer. No glitches, no heat, no fan noise, no observable throttling after a couple hours of use. GPU rendered tasks, like Adobe noise reduction, are not as fast as on my discrete desktop GPU but reasonably fast enough–there are image processing apps that are non-starters on X86 integrated graphics. I encourage doubters to research how the Apple ARM SOC and the software optimizes use of low latency, integrated ram shuffled between the CPU and GPU even while supporting 4k video output. Unfortunately the Air only runs macOS, I’ve always vastly preferred the Windows GUI, but I can live with that for how I will use it (some of us still need non-gaming Windows only software too). The same tier Pro model has more ports and active cooling but the same SOC–unless you plan to render video the active cooling hardly matters and, as noted, the measly two USB C style ports can handle a lot of throughput. Phenomenal battery life too. There is nothing in X86 that can match this performance and energy efficiency at any price point–this AIR model at the sale price is the greatest bargain in computing right now, something never ever written about anything Apple. My main complaint is that Apple is still using the too easily detached magnetic style power connector as on my 2014 Macbook Pro (which I still occasionally use).
