Great buy to bring touchscreen functionality to your desktop.
Ever since getting my Surface Pro 3 I’ve been contemplating a touchscreen desktop. Mobile devices are great, but when writing or spending hours on the computer it is much nicer to have a large screen desktop to sit at. I was going to purchase the same computer, with a slightly different i7 processor, from Dell for $1,399 when I came across this listing for $999. It’s a super value and not likely to be a noticeable difference in speed or capabilities, based on my usage for ripping FLAC music and doing general work/school activities, MS Office, Chrome, Hulu, Netflix, etc. I’ve had it for two weeks and love it! My desk has much more space on it–no additional drives, wires, etc. Just the single power cable and Ethernet cable. I connect an optical drive to USB 3.0 as needed. The PC is fast and the touchscreen responsive. Great buy!

good price, but did not have the SSD drive …
good price, but did not have the SSD drive like I expected to, it has 5400 RPM 1TB with Rapid access from Intel.. I may have to add an external SATA drive that is a true ssd to be able to record faster… some hesitation happens over bluetooth, it keeps resetting somehow.. might be windows 8,, looking into the problemover all its an ok machine for the price

Terrific Machine for Video Editing!
I needed a fast powerful machine primarily for video and audio editing. And this one certainly turned out to be the right choice, It is blazingly fast.I suppose it came pre-installed with Windows 8 or 8.1, I didn’t bother to boot into it to find out. The first thing I did after connecting everything was to hit the F2 key and go directly into BIOS. I disabled UEFI and Secure boot, checked to make sure virtualization was enabled and then booted into Netrunner 14.1 and installed it. Linux, being inherently faster than Windows, creates an incredibly responsive environment on an already powerful platform.I would have liked to give this machine six stars, but then I would have had to knock one off for not including an optical drive. Not that big a problem, a USB optical drive will do just fine.BTW I did a test run on a 30 minute video edit. This included several cuts, transitions cropping and some misc. effects. Render time was slightly over 15 minutes. This would have taken close to 45 minutes on my Core I5 machine.

Best bang for the buck today!
The 2350 has by far the most bang for the buck of any computer I’ve seen in its price range. I was planning on getting the HP Envy 23-n022 but before I could order, the price jumped up by $250-$300, so I kept looking. I had not previously considered this Dell Inspiron 2350 because Dell was selling it for 40% more than the HP cost at the time, but after the HP’s price went up, I found this page listing the Dell at the same price the HP had been. Upon further research, I found that the Dell is a MUCH more powerful computer than the HP, and the HP would now cost me 25+% more. The complete specs were not real easy to come by for either computer, even on each company’s web site, so I’m showing the comparison here:Processor: Intel quad-core i7 on both. They may not be EXACTLY the same version, but any Intel quad-core i7 is going to be VERY powerful. Note that both computers’ base models have i5 processors, so beware of that if you see a much cheaper model.Graphics: HP: Intel HD 4600 * Dell: AMD Radeon HD 8690A with 2GB dedicated memoryThe AMD 8690 is a much more powerful graphics card per tests found online, and that is in comparisons done with an AMD with only 1GB. This one has 2GB, so it is even more powerful still.__________________HP______DellMemory___________8GB_____12GB *Hard drive + SSD__1TB+8G__1TB+16G *USB 3 & USB 2____2 & 4_____4 & 2 * (Dell has more USB3)Internal DVD-RW ____y *________nHDMI in ___________1 _________1HDMI out___________0_________1 * (Connect to TV or external monitor.)Internal speakers___quad *_______2 sub-woofers_______quad *______0Headphone out_______y_________yAudio out___________n__________ySo the Dell out-powers the HP in every respect other than speakers, and I already had some good external desktop speakers with large subwoofer (larger than could possibly be in the HP), so the speakers are not an issue for me. I am disappointed that the Dell doesn’t have an internal DVD, but I got an external one for $25, which still makes the HP 25+% higher priced for a much less powerful computer.I have been buying computers from Dell for over 20 years and have never had a lemon. I have loved them all and this one is no exception. In summary, compared to the HP Envy 23 n-022, the Dell has a much more powerful graphics card, 50% more memory, twice as large solid state drive, twice as many USB 3 ports (4), and an HDMI out (HP’s has none). The HP has an internal DVD drive and more speakers and at this time, it is selling for 25% more. Seems like an easy choice even if they cost the same and even more so at the current price difference.Footnote: I don’t think new computers have VGA out anymore, so with my two external monitors have VGA and DVI, I had to get an
HDMI to DVI Cable
for one, which is only about $7, and a
USB to DVI Adapter
for the other, which is about $40 but also requires a DVI-to-DVI cable (male-to-male).Also, the keyboard has no Break key and despite a lot of research and trying different things, I could find no way to simulate one. This probably only matters to programmers, but I had to buy a wireless Logitech keyboard with more keys, including the Break. It was only about $20, so not that big a deal. I actually think that the Dell keyboard is easier to type on than the full-stroke Logitech, but I like the layout of the Logitech better, so if you don’t like the Dell keyboard, give the Logitech MK270 a look.

Exceptional Computer! Looks Great and works perfectly!
I looked a lot of different computers after mine crashed. This one had everything I was looking for in terms of speed and I needed something that was an “all-in-one”. Honestly, I was very hesitant about buying a Dell. The last time I had one it kept crashing. So far, this has not only met my expectations, but exceeded it. It is a great looking computer, fast, clean, awesome. I would highly recommend it!
