What Makes the Mynt Stand Out
Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
Unlike simple massage pillows with 4 nodes, Mynt‘s 10-node system is divided into two groups—likely four for the neck and shoulders and six for the back—working independently to mimic professional kneading techniques. Nodes offer both traditional 2D rotation and deeper 3D penetration, effectively self-adjusting intensity.
Massage Zone Selection
The remote control lets you precisely select where the nodes travel:
-
Full back massage: Nodes move the entire length of the track
-
Upper back only: Target shoulders, rhomboids, and upper traps
-
Lower back only: Focus on the lumbar region
-
Spot massage: Four kneading balls can be fixed on a single problem area
This granular control is rare in sub-$200 shiatsu pads.
Adjustable Neck Massage Node Position
A physical up‑down control on the remote moves the 10 roller balls along the back track, accommodating user heights between approximately 5’0″ and 5’9″. Combined with adjustable neck massage speed (slow or fast), this ensures proper node alignment for most users.
Waist Compression (An Added Bonus)
Unique to the Mynt are side pockets that wrap around the waist and hips, squeezing from behind and pushing up. Two intensity levels help alleviate lower back soreness after prolonged sitting.
Demo Mode
First-time shiatsu users can press DEMO on the remote to cycle through all functions—a useful guided tour without reading dense manuals.
FSA/HSA Eligible of Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
The Mynt is clearly marked as FSA and HSA eligible on its Amazon listing. However, a Letter of Medical Necessity from a doctor may still be required by your FSA/HSA administrator to justify the purchase as treatment for a diagnosed medical condition.
1-Year Warranty of Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
A solid 12-month manufacturer warranty provides added protection.

Competitor Deep Dive: How the Players Stack Up
Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
Zyllion ZMA-13 stands out as the portable champion: at just 3.9 lbs and $58, it‘s ideal for office-to-living-room travel. However, its 4-node system covers less area and lacks the targeted zone selection or waist compression of the Mynt. It’s the perfect budget‑friendly companion for occasional use.
RENPHO Shiatsu Cushion offers 8–10 moving nodes and height‑adjustable neck Support for roughly half the price of the Mynt. One user noted:“I liked how you can massage the full back, lower back or the upper back,” highlighting comparable zone versatility. Its heat function provides “soothing warmth”, making it a strong mid‑range alternative but without the Mynt‘s 2D/3D adjustability or waist compression.
Snailax Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager earns praise for its deep, customizable shiatsu massage, spot mode, and heat with vibration. However, its track range doesn‘t fully cover taller users, and neck massage alignment can be tricky—limitations the Mynt’s adjustable nodes specifically address.
Naipo Shiatsu Pad provides 8 kneading nodes with 3 speeds and a car adapter for on‑the‑go relief. It integrates 3D‑rotation kneading but lacks the targeted zone selection, adjustable node height, and waist compression that define the Mynt.
Bottom Line: The Mynt is for those who want a full‑featured, stationary massage station—not a device to toss into a gym bag. Its 10 nodes, 2D/3D kneading, spot targeting, adjustable neck height, and waist compression outperform all competitors in feature depth, but at a higher price and weight.
Who Should Buy the Mynt Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
Desk Workers and Remote Professionals: If you spend 8+ hours daily in an office chair, the combination of full‑back, upper‑only, lower‑only, or spot massage—plus waist compression—will pay daily dividends.
Anyone with FSA/HSA Dollars to Spend: Use pre‑tax health funds for a premium Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager. Expect to secure a Letter of Medical Necessity from your doctor justifying treatment for a diagnosed condition such as chronic back pain or myofascial pain syndrome.
Chronic Pain Sufferers: People with persistent lower back tightness, sciatica, or arthritis will appreciate the spot massage and waist compression. One user reported it‘s “ideal for anyone dealing with back or neck tension”.
Gift Givers: The premium build, comprehensive remote, and attractive packaging make it an impressive gift for parents, spouses, or anyone with a sedentary job.
Who Should Skip the Mynt Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
Budget‑Conscious Shoppers: At $176, this is over 3× the price of the Zyllion ZMA‑13. If occasional massage is sufficient, save money.
Frequent Travelers or Movers: At 17.6 lbs and corded, the Mynt belongs permanently on one chair. It‘s not portable.
Tall Users (6’+): Height adjustment accommodates up to roughly 5‘9“. Taller users may need to manually reposition or consider alternatives with longer tracks.
Those Who Prefer Percussion Guns: Shiatsu kneading is very different from percussive pounding. If you love massage guns, this slower, deeper, kneading sensation may not satisfy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Is the Mynt Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager FSA/HSA eligible? What documentation do I need?
A: Yes, the product is marked as FSA and HSA eligible on Amazon. However, most FSA/HSA administrators require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a licensed physician to reimburse a massager for home use. The LMN must clearly state that the device is medically necessary to treat a diagnosed condition (e.g., chronic back pain, myofascial pain syndrome, sciatica) and explain how it will relieve symptoms or assist therapy. Save your receipt and the signed LMN when submitting your claim. For general wellness or stress relief without a medical diagnosis, using FSA/HSA funds is much riskier. Confirm your plan’s specific documentation requirements before purchasing.
Q2: Will this massager fit someone taller than 5‘9“? How do I adjust it?
A: Mynt notes the adjustable height function “accommodates user heights of between 5ft and 5.74ft with ease” (approximately 5‘0“ to 5‘9“). If you are 5‘10“ or taller, the rollers may not align perfectly with your neck and shoulders without manual repositioning. Users taller than 6‘ likely need to consider competing products with longer massage tracks or different designs.
Q3: How does the waist compression feature work, and is it effective?
A: The Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager has side pockets that wrap around the waist/hips, squeezing from behind and pushing upward with two intensity levels (blue light for weak, red light for very strong). It targets the lumbar area specifically, alleviating lower back soreness from prolonged sitting—a feature absent from all competitors listed above.
Q4: What are the 10 deep kneading nodes, and how do 2D vs. 3D work?
A: There are two separate node groups (likely 4 for neck/shoulders and 6 for back). 2D refers to standard rotational kneading (like typical shiatsu pillows). 3D adds a “push” effect, increasing node penetration pressure for a deeper, more intense massage. You can adjust between these modes via the remote, effectively self‑selecting intensity.
Q5: Does the Mynt have an auto shut‑off timer? If so, what are the options?
A: Yes. The heated massage pad offers three timer options: 10, 15, or 20 minutes. The device automatically shuts off after the selected time, preventing over‑massage and overheating. The heating function operates at 113–122°F (45–50°C) and also benefits from overheat protection.

AMAZING product for relaxation and pain relief!

Very nice massage shiatsu chair. Durable construction. Works AMAZING! The shiatsu areas hit perfectly. The heat is nice. The levels are adjustable with the remote. It has a time so you can set the right amount of massage you prefer. The vibration level is very nice. I love the squeezing affect on the low back! It is perfect for pain relief at the end of a long work day! It looks good on the couch and can be moved if you need the room. Not too heavy. There are straps on the back to attach to a chair. There is a pocket to store the remote. Great quality and great value! And it’s HSA approved!!

Relieves Tension Instantly – Perfect Neck & Back Massager!
I recently purchased this 3D Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager and it has exceeded my expectations. The deep kneading nodes feel just like a real massage, releasing all the tension in my neck, shoulders, and back. The heat function adds an extra layer of comfort and makes the experience even more relaxing. I love that it’s adjustable, so I can target different areas of my back depending on where I need it most, and it’s lightweight enough to move from my home chair to my office chair with ease. After a long day, this massager gives me instant relief and makes me feel refreshed and stress-free. Truly one of the best investments for comfort and self-care

wow totally worth the money
Before buying this one i have one of those shiatsu two knobs back massager ones that has the two flaps that you can pull forward to press the nubs onto your back for more pressure. This one though, barely laying back onto the massager already applies so much pressure onto my back, making it super effortless to get the nubs to hit the right spot. The neck and the back massagers are separate so if you want just a neck or a back massage you can also adjust accordingly. The air bags on the sides and on the seats are also surprisingly strong

Love love love. Gives great relief – especially after sitting all day!
I love this massager so much! It sits perfectly in my chair. Everything is customizable. You can adjust the massagers (move them up or down) and also adjust the speed/intensity. The heat works well. It definitely doesn’t get super hot, but you can feel it. You can do lower back, upper back, or full back. It has neck massagers and air pressure as well. I think the neck, lower back, and air pressure are my favorite! It is a bit small width wise. The air pressure squeezes me in. I’m not sure how well it would work with somebody bigger. It’s very portable – just plug in and go. Pretty lightweight and seems durable! I wish it had seat massagers, but I knew it didn’t before buying!

Worth the Purchase!!
I am 5’4” and this chair is amazing! At my height, it hits all of the spots and feels like a true massage like when you are at the nail shop (even better). I’ve used in my office chair and on the sofa and both were great experiences. Love the pressure of both the massage and compression. The neck massager adjusts perfectly for my height and the heat feature is awesome. So glad that I purchased this chair with my fsa funds!

Read Before You Decide! Man or Woman, Short or Tall- Worth it!
Pros/Cons: This Mynt Shiatsu Neck and Back massager has a lot of good features for a chair type. I chose the gray color because the Bombay chair I have it sitting in is a gray taupe color and has a short back to it. The back of the massager chair sits 10″ higher! It’s the only arm chair I own and is quite comfortable for me, so it was going to be quite noticeable in my tiny living room space. Fortunately, this back massager chair is very sturdy and doesn’t bend at all while I’m sitting on it. It’s surprisingly heavy to carry, but I don’t intend to move it from place to place so consider that if you have different needs. It’s not noisy for me, and my partner set it up and promptly tested it for me.Ha! It was difficult to get him to let me try it out after 15 minutes. He is a solidly built senior, wide shoulders, and muscular from mountain climbing and cycling. His height was 5’8″ 15 years ago, (5′ 6″ now) and he generally tends to ignore any aches or pain like most men. I mention this because I’m just the opposite! His response to the 10 nodes was a delight to watch, as it apparently hit everywhere he most needed relief. He is still 3 inches taller than I am now, and that most likely explains why different people have such varied experiences. He would rate it 5 stars, but will only be using it when he comes over to visit me several times a week. He’s never broken any bones. My own experience is closer to 3.7 stars. I have a longer back and multiple injuries from my younger days activities of snow skiing, falls, and as a passenger in a car accident. Since then, I’ve gone from 5’6″ to 5’3″ and have broken my coccyx (tailbone), one rib and two crushed vertebra, L12 and L13. Osteoarthritis has resulted from this in the past two years and I consider myself fortunate that I can still walk at all. Again, I share this because how you will respond to the intensity of these nodes and where the placement reaches your body type is how you will know if this product alone will meet your physical needs and functionality of RELIEF.The neck relief for me works well because it’s adjustable by either raising or lowering the placement by pressing the arrow buttons on the attached remote. If I add a folded towel to the seat, it raises me to where the neck nodes can reach the top of my shoulders, which is heavenly. Nothing I do will allow me to have the nodes reach to the area just above my shoulder blades and that is another area that I really need to address for complete relaxation. The other three buttons that are supposed to hit the upper back, lumbar region (waist level) or full back option just doesn’t hit those areas for me as the nodes are too aggressive for comfort. As I continue to heal, this might change though, so I am happy to have it.I have to add that this is the most comfortable seat I’ve ever experienced due to the padding, heat options, and the absence of nodes that make most of these types of chairs extremely uncomfortable when sitting if not in actual use. As for those side pillow things that compress and expand with air, neither of us like that. It would be much better for me if they simply filled up and stopped, instead of getting consecutively more intense. There are two or three options that consecutively increases the pressure, but none to pause when they reach the stage that feels best to you. It’s likely that also depends on how wide or narrow your hips are. One of the other positive features is the massage time length option to choose 10, 15, or 20 minutes of time via the remote control button before it automatically shuts off! There is also an automatic safety feature built into it should it overheat while using it. I haven’t experienced that, but it’s good to know it’s there. Finally, the product is expensive, around $180.00 when I purchased it on Black Friday, but it also includes a one year warranty from the date of purchase, which is far superior to 99% of the competition. That said, it’s far less cost than an overstuffed lounge chair type, so this price beats that!Customer service is also important to me: Seller is very responsive to any questions you may have both before and after you purchase it. I gave him a 5 star rating for that attribute.I sincerely hope that this longer, extensive review will help others decide if this is what you need.Ideas and Helpful Hints: If you have fibromyalgia or sensitive skin, it helps to use a blanket or rolled up hand towel to lessen the intensity of the 3D nodes. Personally, I also purchased a small 3D slate gray pillow type massager that fits perfectly on top of this massage chair for when I need to just focus on my lower tailbone area. It also allows me to massage the shoulder area below the neck that this chair massage misses on me. I’ve left a review for that one, too. As of now, between both of these machines, I’ve found exactly what I needed!

Highly Recommend!
The Mynt Shiatsu Massager is for someone who wants a serious, deep-tissue massage rather than just a light vibration. The standout feature is the 3D movement, which means the rollers don’t just slide up and down your back—they also press outward to mimic the pressure of real thumbs.Because it is FSA/HSA eligible, it feels more like a recovery tool than a luxury gadget. A major plus is the adjustable neck support; on many other models, if you aren’t the “standard” height, the rollers end up hitting the back of your head or your shoulders instead of your neck. The downside is the intensity. With 10 massage nodes working at once, it can feel quite aggressive if you aren’t used to deep pressure. You will likely need to put a towel or blanket over the backrest to soften the impact at first. However, the Spot Massage function is excellent—if you have one specific knot under your shoulder blade, you can lock the rollers in that exact position until the muscle finally relaxes. Highly recommend.
