Blazing fast and super quiet — perfect for home setup
This new Mac mini with the M4 chip is a beast. Everything feels instant — apps open before you even finish clicking, and video editing in Final Cut is smoother than ever. I didn’t expect this tiny box to be this powerful.What really suprised me tho was how quiet it is. Even under load, you barely hear a whisper. It’s also running way cooler than my old M1 mini. I was a bit worried about the 256GB storage being too small, but for everyday work, with iCloud and external SSD, it’s fine.Perfect match with my Studio Display. Love the build quality too. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a snappy, compact Mac desktop.

A fast little beast
This is a small compact beast. I make music and stream videos, it’s actually lightning fast. The size will truly shock you, it’s tiny but giant quality.1) The speaker is loud enough for casual listening but definitely get some external speakers.2) the Ethernet port comes in handy in this wireless world3)Apple Arcade works very smoothly4) I use pro tools, Maschine, Reason, Serato, UAD and Luna with NO LAG5) has a decent processor for light video editing and podcasting.

Snappy Performance at a Reasonable Price

Even The Low Spec M4 is Still a Real Powerhouse
Speed demon supreme, even in the low-spec model. 27″ iMac if connected with Thunderbolt and if using an 8K dummy monitor plug works wonderfully well as a monitor for a headless M4 mini — using screen sharing. The ride for setup is a bit bumpy to get that all working, but the results are great — not for gaming or full screen 5k+ video, but otherwise, terrific. An astonishing difference rendering a Rhino 8 drawing on the M4 compared to an i7 iMac (not really practical on the i7 at all). Data transfer speed is wonderful, as expected. This is a really good headless way to get some M4 goodness while keeping the familiar old Intel apps alive until they are fully exterminated by the poison apple policy. Be sure to get the top-flight best USB-C cables you can buy, as the cheaper ones don’t work.I was very skeptical, and also reluctant. And these days, a five star is not easily given. But, I have to admit, this is a lot of computer for the money. I bought this machine to be a little automation hub, tucked away in obsurity for meanial tasks. After setting it up and kicking the tires, it’s now a programming ambassador to the M4 world, and the door to the next world of Apple. A worthwhile purchase as Apple things go.Buying the monitor and more storage, etc. will be painful but worthwhile. I’m already thinking about whether I should wait longer for the 30″ iMac M4/M5/M? – and leaning that way, but the prospect of another Mini with the separate monitor is nice.In principle, I should knock one or two stars for the non-upgradable RAM and non-upgradable storage, and maybe another star for privacy and obsolesence issues, but I’m keeping the 5 star rating for value and the path forward for those of us who are in the Apple camp for until something better comes along. I spent years deep in the driver and update hell of Windows before switching to the smoother Apple world. Apple is now so mature that it takes a good day to fully grind through cleansing and setting up the mini for legitimate use… tools, firewalling, filtering, and more — but once there, it’s impressive. Don’t get me wrong, most people will be happy in minutes.

Well worth the buy. Be sure to get a ssd.
Best choice I’ve ever made for music production. (native instruments) The base model does more than enough. No need to mess up the warranty installing another hard drive. Just picked up an external ssd (crucial 10x) and I have. been working nonstop with no hiccups. Well worth it and I got it on sale new on Amazon for under $500. It is a work horse. Good quality and small.

amazingly quick and efficient not enough SSD storage
I purchased this Mac to replace my very aging older model…… this model is amazing and extremely fast. Unfortunately I do not use it nearly as much due to a small capacity. I was unable to clone my old drive completely due to limited space. My old one had a 1 terabyte, I made a mistake doing set up and not using an external drive to be the main drive. I have yet to fix this issue. I pretty much don’t use it wish I had bought a one terabyte but I never would’ve because of the high price 😠 but like I said it is amazingly fast and works great BUT I did have a major problem with the display constantly going dark for a few seconds constantly turns out even though I have a 4K monitor the HDMI cable that came with the screen was not fast enough for this computer once I updated the HDMI cable to the fastest one available. I haven’t had any problems, I was disappointed that the Samsung monitor didn’t have the correct HDMI cable but for the MAC mini just make sure to use a ultra fast HDMI

Almost Perfect – Just Needs More Storage
I migrated from a custom Windows setup with a Ryzen 7 3700X and an RTX 4060 Ti. While I do miss the ability to play any game from Steam or other launchers, the switch to Mac has been smooth overall and very rewarding for my daily needs.The Mac mini M4 takes up barely any space, and I love how easy it is to move around. It’s a perfect fit for a clean, minimalist setup—much more compact than my previous PC tower.One of the best parts of this switch has been the integration with other Apple devices. I recently got an iPhone and AirPods, and the synergy between them is amazing—instant audio switching, Universal Clipboard (copy-paste across devices), and effortless file sharing really enhance the experience.The only downside so far is the 256 GB of storage. Although I haven’t filled it up yet (my use is light and I mostly have Stardew Valley installed), I can already tell that photos, videos, and even a few personal files can eat up space quickly. If you’re planning to install heavier apps or more games, you’ll either need to manage your files carefully or consider external storage.If you’re looking for a compact, quiet, and elegant desktop solution—and you’re already in the Apple ecosystem—the Mac mini M4 is a great choice.
